Hello, heroes! أهلًا بيكم في الوحدة الرابعة: Resources Around Us — موارد حولنا. وأول درس: Egypt: Past and Present — مصر: الماضي والحاضر. الكلمات الجديدة: granite — جرانيت، حجر صلب قوي. colored stones — أحجار ملوّنة. gold — دهب. clay — طين، صلصال. papyrus — ورق البردي. bricks — طوب. temple — معبد. amulet — تميمة، حلية صغيرة كانوا بيلبسوها. linen — كتان، قماش خفيف. وكلمات مهمة: material — خامة، حاجة بنصنع بيها حاجات تانية. ancient — قديم جدًا، من زمن بعيد. modern — حديث، من الزمن القريب. survive — يفضل موجود لفترة طويلة. decorate — يزيّن، يخلّي الحاجة شكلها حلو. wrapped — لفّوها بقماش أو خامة. نسمع حوار نور وعمر: Nour: Hey Omar! Are you working on the history project? Omar: Yes! I'm reading about materials the ancient Egyptians used. They used stone, clay, papyrus, linen, wood, and even gold! — استخدموا الحجر والطين والبردي والكتان والخشب وحتى الدهب! Nour: I saw a picture of a papyrus scroll in a museum. It's unbelievable how long that material could survive — ورق البردي عاش آلاف السنين لأنه بيستحمل. Omar: And some materials are still used today. Stone is used in modern buildings — just like they used it for pyramids and temples. والمصريين القدماء نحتوا التماثيل الضخمة من الجرانيت — they carved huge statues from granite. Nour: What about clothes? Omar: They made clothes from linen, because linen is light in hot weather — الكتان خفيف في الجو الحر. And linen is made from flax — الكتان بيتعمل من نبات الكتان. Nour: They also used gold to make jewelry and amulets, and they wrapped mummies in linen — لفّوا المومياوات في الكتان. Omar: And today we use colored stones to make beautiful jewelry, and we visit the temples they built — لسه بنستخدم الأحجار الملوّنة في المجوهرات وبنزور المعابد. And now, let's practise!

Omar! Imagine the football pitch you play on being built from the same stone the ancient Egyptians used for temples and pyramids! Today we'll learn the materials they used long ago and still use today.
💡 Let's try it with football things: your jersey could be linen — light in hot weather, just like the ancient Egyptians wore. The trophy is made of gold, like their amulets. And the granite statue outside the stadium is an ancient material that survives because it is strong.
