Islamic Religious Education — Grade 5 · Term 1

The Grade 5 Islamic religious education curriculum — three units: Faith & Peace, The Road of Faith, and Faith & Humility. Belief in the heavenly books, the Qur'an's qualities and how it was revealed; Surat al-Insan, al-Qiyamah and al-Muddaththir; the rules of the silent nun and the articulation points of the letters; Ramadan and the conditions and manners of fasting; Hudaybiyyah, Khaybar and the Prophet's letters to the kings; Abu Dharr, Zayd ibn Thabit and Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas; and the rights of a neighbour, the pursuit of knowledge and humility.

I can name the heavenly books mentioned in the Qur'an in order, say which prophet each was sent to, and why the Qur'an is the last and protected one.
I can recite Surat al-Insan correctly, explain its words, and tell the qualities of the righteous and their reward in Paradise.
I know the four rules of the silent nun and tanwin, can name each rule's letters, and apply them when I recite the Qur'an.
I can say why Ramadan is the greatest month — the month of the Qur'an, Laylat al-Qadr and freeing from the Fire — and join its good deeds.
I can tell the events of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, its causes and terms, and how this peace turned out to be good for the Muslims and spread Islam peacefully.
