Islamic Religious Education — Grade 6 · Term 1

The Grade 6 Islamic religious education curriculum — three units: Mercy & Gentleness, Brotherhood in Faith, and Taqwa & Good Deeds. Belief in the Last Day, the resurrection, and the reckoning and recompense; Surat al-Ma'arij, al-Haqqah and al-Qalam; the rules of isti'adhah, basmalah and the silent mim; hajj — its pillars and manners; Hunayn, the siege of Ta'if and Tabuk; Abu Hurayrah, Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Malik ibn Anas; and kindness to animals, diligence in learning, and taqwa.

I can say what belief in the Last Day means, put its stages in order from the blowing of the trumpet to the resurrection and the reckoning, and say what it changes in how I behave every day.
I can recite Surat al-Ma'arij correctly, say its name, verse count and where it was revealed, explain its words, and list the qualities of the believers it describes.
I can say what the isti'adhah and the basmalah mean and the ruling on each, name the one surah we do not begin with the basmalah, and apply this when I recite the Qur'an.
I can say that hajj is a pillar of Islam that God made obligatory once in a lifetime on those who are able, and list the lessons a Muslim learns from it — patience, humility and equality.
I can tell why the Battle of Hunayn happened in year 8 AH and what took place, and conclude that real victory comes through faith, patience and trust in God — not through numbers.
